After the pane is secure and in place, seal it with caulking. Once you have finished sealing, use isopropyl alcohol to wipe away any caulking smudges, fingerprints, and any other stains.
Replace Broken Vinyl Jamb Liner or a Broken Balance Cartridge: For this repair project, follow the instructions for repairing a broken pane except you will be removing the vinyl jamb liner. After removing the sliding panes, you just have to snap the jamb liner from the window sill. You can do this using a utility knife. Once the jamb liner is removed, just snap the new jamb liner into place and fit everything back into the appropriate place. Make sure when reinserting the screws that they are tight and secure. The caulking will take about 24 hours to dry.

Make a list of parts and materials we will need from the store. Once we are ready to begin the repair, we gather up all the tools, parts and set aside some time for the task.
Some of you may disagree with this thinking but, think for a moment. Its all in the attitude of the individual. Can we cook a meal, or can we repair the leaky faucet? I say yes we can but, not at the same time. I noticed this the other day when I was making Spaghetti sauce from scratch. I wanted to cook something for the family and lunches if there was any left over. It was the same gathering of utensils (tools), ingredients (parts) and time to complete the meal (the job). The meal was a success by the way.
What I’m trying to get across to all of us is that if we approach repair or cooking or any other thing we enjoy, it seems to all have a process of set up, gathering and follow through. So all the best in your adventures at home whatever it is.

So, to fix a torn screen, all you need is a razor, a rubber based glue, a straightedge, a wax paper, a wooden glue spreader, and a piece of screen cloth, which should be large enough to cover the hole plus it should have an inch of extra space on all sides after covering the hole.
And here is how to do it. I assume that the screen hole is round in shape; if so, you will need to use your straightedge to cut the hole into a square figure. Once you are done, place the screen on a wax paper. This is to prevent the glue from getting stuck on your workbench. Then place the new screen cloth on the hole, making sure that all four sides of the hole are equally and fully covered. Then apply glue on all the four edges, and spread the glue with the help of the glue spreader. Press the cloth on all the four edges and allow the screen to be left to dry. You are done! See how easy it is!

If you are like me you enjoy doing home repair and improvement projects. It’s very satisfying to, say, finally get that leaky faucet fixed or fix that closet door that never shut. You get to sit back, look at it, then look at it some more and say to yourself “I did that!”. As a home owner it seems like there is always something to fix, improve or install around the house. As a pro I see people everyday that want to know how I do stuff. It’s funny how the customer will sometimes stand behind me to see what I’m doing or linger in a conversation a little too long while I’m working. I still knew the process would be difficult to repeat because they can’t see the thoughts: “Watch out for this” and “Remember that”. Sometimes they come right out and ask me to tell them how to do a project on another part of the house. It was difficult for me to tell them since that is how I earned my living!
However I did get a certain satisfaction from showing my helpers, with some understandable anticipation, how to do certain things. College students wanting summer work, mostly. I actually had a “pseudo” training program for them and I know they took that knowledge with them for the rest of their lives. I can imagine them in later years answering the primordial call: “Honey, can you do something for me today?”
Its satisfying to me to be able to tell people how to do what I do. Install a new front door, make a new counter top or install a new wood floor. Imagine having free instructions on how to do just about any project around the house. It’s nice when you have someone directing and coriographing you on how to do certain projects that might otherwise seem undoable. It makes your project that much more fun and satisfying!

You become very excited and plan to do the project yourself. Maybe you have even torn about a wall or pulled up floors with the intention of doing the work yourself. After the demolition is done, it is not quite as much fun to begin the actual work yourself. You probably have a regular job and the idea of coming home to a project that will take time and energy does not have the appeal it did in the beginning.
